Carpe

Privacy Policy

Carpe – Time Block Planner (“the App”) is an iOS app that helps you plan and run a block of free time. The App is developed by Matthew Chan (“we,” “us”). This policy explains how the App handles information. The short version: Carpe does not collect, transmit, or share any personal information.

01

Information We Collect

None. Carpe does not collect personal information. Specifically:

  • The App does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide a name, email address, or phone number.
  • The App does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting software from any third party.
  • The App does not request access to your contacts, location, photos, microphone, camera, health data, or calendars.
  • The App does not use cookies, advertising identifiers, or any similar tracking technology.
  • The App does not sell or share your personal information, because it does not collect any.
02

Information Stored on Your Device

The plans, tasks, time blocks, and timer history you create in Carpe are stored locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to us or to any third party. We have no access to it and no ability to retrieve it.

Because this data lives only on your device, it is subject to your device’s own protections (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and iOS device encryption). Deleting the App removes this data from your device. If you back up your device to iCloud or a computer, App data may be included in that backup and is then governed by Apple’s privacy policy or your own backup practices.

03

Notifications

If you enable notifications, Carpe uses them to alert you when a time block ends or a new one begins.

These are local notifications only. They are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Carpe does not use push notifications, does not operate or connect to any remote notification server, and does not transmit a device token or any other information off your device in order to notify you.

You can turn notifications off at any time in Settings → Notifications → Carpe.

04

Information Collected by Apple

Carpe is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple may collect information about downloads and app usage independently of the App, under its own policies.

If you have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with crash and performance reports. Apple describes these reports as aggregated and anonymized. They do not include the contents of your plans or tasks, and we do not receive any information from Apple that identifies you by name, email address, or account. For details on what Apple collects and how, see Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

05

Children’s Privacy

Carpe does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is not directed at children under 13, and no data is knowingly collected from them.

06

Your Rights

Because Carpe does not collect or store any of your information outside your own device, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. You control all App data directly: you can edit or delete individual plans in the App, or delete the App to remove all of its data from your device.

Residents of jurisdictions with data-protection laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California) have rights to access, correct, delete, and port their personal data, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Carpe does not collect, sell, or share personal data, so no such data exists for us to act on.

07

Changes to This Policy

Any change to this policy applies going forward only. A revised policy will never be applied retroactively to information handled under an earlier version.

If a future version of the App changes how information is handled, we will update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date above.

If a future version of the App would collect, transmit, or share personal information — which no current version does — we will tell you inside the App before any such collection begins, and describe what is collected and why. We will not begin collecting personal information on the basis of a silently updated policy.

Non-material changes (such as clarified wording or an updated contact address) will be reflected here and noted in the App Store release notes.
